Family hotel reviews from a Japanese family who travel with kids — and with the grandparents. We write about what we actually booked, what we paid, how we split rooms for four or six people, and how we got from the airport to the hotel.

Who we are

I’m Jinbei, a father of two from the Kanto region of Japan (around Tokyo). I have been traveling for about 20 years and have visited more than 30 cities. Since our first child was born, we have taken at least one family trip every year, starting when he was a baby.

We also travel as three generations — grandparents, parents and kids. Our records from 2014 to 2026 alone include 24 domestic three-generation trips (48 nights) in Japan, plus two abroad: Guam and Taipei.

What you will find in our reviews

  • What we paid — the actual total for our dates, room count and breakfast choice, not a price range
  • How we split rooms — one room for four, or two adjacent rooms for six with grandparents
  • Getting there with kids and luggage — airport trains, late-night transfers, exits and elevators
  • What we did not use — we say so, instead of guessing

Where we have traveled as a family

With the kids and grandparents, we have traveled to Okinawa, Guam, Kanazawa, Tokushima and Yamagata, and abroad to Taipei, Hong Kong, Cebu and Bangkok. Most of our reviews are in Japanese for now; we are adding English versions of the hotels we know best.
